STAM Center Celebrates Student Research Leads on Major PhD Milestones

The STAM Center proudly congratulates three outstanding students, Mishel Jyothis Paul, Nges Brian Njungle, and Eric Jahns, on successfully completing their comprehensive examinations this semester. Mishel and Nges also advanced to PhD candidacy after additionally completing their prospectuses.

The students successfully defended their comprehensive examinations before their PhD thesis committees under the guidance of their research advisor, Dr. Michel A. Kinsy, Director of the STAM Center.

The comprehensive examination represents a major milestone in the PhD journey, reflecting a student’s depth of knowledge, research readiness, and academic achievement within their field of study.

During their time at the STAM Center, these students have contributed significantly to the center’s growing research community through innovation, collaboration, and scholarly leadership. Each has developed a distinct research focus while leading major research initiatives within the center.

Mishel leads the Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems (CAES) Lab, where he explores how hardware capabilities can be leveraged to secure the full compute stack. Nges leads the Adaptive & Secure Computing Systems (ASCS) Lab, where he develops scalable privacy-preserving technologies. Eric leads the Artificial Intelligence Technology and Systems (AITS) Lab, where he develops energy-efficient machine learning algorithms and systems.

Through their leadership and technical contributions, these students continue to advance the STAM Center’s mission of developing secure and trusted semiconductor and microelectronics technologies through research spanning security, privacy, hardware systems, and machine learning.

The STAM Center community celebrates this achievement and looks forward to their continued success and future contributions to academia, industry, and the broader research community. Congratulations to all three students on this significant accomplishment.
